- Due to the business challenges like restriction of budget, resistance of shifting over to another system, suggesting a complete new solution was not the option for this client.
- The major hassle they were facing were the reports generation as the data has to be picked up from their Sales and Marketing system which was developed using Oracle 8i, the Operations package was developed on Visual Basic 6.0 with the DB in MS Access and the Accountancy package was also developed in Visual basic 6.0 in SQL 2000. But both these systems being a product, the source code was not available with our client. So there was no room for modification in these systems.
- So, Enterprise Application Integration was the best cost effective option to deal with the chronic issues faced by this company.
Methodology
- blueMango solutions scrutinized all the systems being used with the individual user of the system to understand the process flow as there was no documentation available on the systems.
- Our team also analyzed the shortcomings of the existing system and the requirements from the user’s point of view as well as the management point of view and accordingly made prototypes of the reports which could be available with different filtering options. The objective is to generate a summary which will take the user through the details as per their requirement.
- We are developing an adapter which will connect these three systems at the database level and pick up the essential data to give the required output. The user will have a screen where he/she can choose the criteria, for example, Region: South East Asia, Country: Singapore, Type: Sea Imports, Consignee:. Salesman, Date range and get the specifications.
- The user can also generate a summary of the results based on the above mentioned parameters which will give the management the entire picture of the group.
